Two German siblings who are riding their bikes around the world have arrived in Thailand after taking their journey to Turkey, Australia, and Malaysia.

The duo, Nathanael Arndt, 28, and Johanna Arndt, 26, entered Thailand from Malaysia in the southern province of Narathiwat. The siblings made a stop in Yala province to rest, had a meal amid police security, and visited a bike shop, according to Thai News Bureau.

They said local residents had been very friendly and welcoming since they arrived.

I think you need to visit a temple and release a baby turtle... Such built up anger/frustration is not good :)

  • Sadly way too many world cyclists end their journeys in Thailand.   Alternative routes exist guys, take them.

  • I hope they have been told and fully understand how dangerous what they are doing is in Thailand.

Best of luck, you'll need it!

Well, maybe it helps if that >police security< is kept up ... :cheesy:

Hope that BOTH return safely to Germany.

Why is this news? Is this for charity? Why is public money being wasted on such ego trips?

where does it say public money was being spent?

Sitting in a bar having some girl tell you that you are hansum seems like an ego trip to me.

No the best country for driving around by bicycle...

Wow, I wouldn't contemplate riding a motorbike here, let alone a bicycle.

Brave people.

They may have been told  but I doubt they fully understand how dangerous it is.

latest figures for January puts Thailand number 1 in the world ( for road fatalities )

They might have a better chance of survival  using the glitter/goldenman safety outfit.

Yes, I hope so too!  But, getting out of Thailand alive is the first step; if they can do that, they can do anything.

Let hope and pray that they survive....

Remember to wear an amulet or token.....

I hope they will be still alive when leaving the country. Good luck!!!!!

February 2013 then February 2015 so a bit of a gap - reckon these accidents happen in all countries - although I accept there is a lot Thailand can do to improve road safety

As cycling around the World appears to have added 20 years to their looks so far i hate to see the pictures if they make it to Mai Sai.

Anyone taking bets on how long it will take them to end up under a truck?

No, no, no, that is simply facing up to the truth!

?

Take care and stay safe German siblings , And get ready for the worst traffic and the worst drivers. We had a world rider from Australia that was killed along with his wife a few years ago here in Thailand.

Someone should send them a warning on facebook

Anyone know what happened to the driver ?

One accident 5 years ago and one other 3 years ago.  That's two too many but it's not a bad record.

Right there.

no context to the statement.

there are uniformed soldiers with automatic rifles stationed along

the main streets and market areas in some towns.

not uncommon to have lunch in a noodle stall with a soldier

standing on the pavement outside.

could be the cyclists were joking about "police security" as they

happened to have lunch where the local cops were eating.

irregardless, were the meaning literal, would have expected to see

a group photo with a dozen cops pointing to the cyclists.
