Pattaya neglecting cleanup of Naklua beaches

Pattaya neglecting cleanup of Naklua beaches

PATTAYA:--Works crews disappeared long ago from the northern end of Pattaya Beach, but the debris left over from the suspended sand-refill project remains, with dead animal remains making the situation worse.

Clearly the beachfront north of the Dusit Thani Hotel and into Naklua has been neglected by city hall. Piles of old garbage, dead fish and animal carcasses litter the beach. There is no sign any city cleanup crews have bothered to come by in some time.

Rotting sandbags left from the aborted beach-restoration project also remain on the eroded beach, even though city hall cleared away similar bags from Beach Road before it hosted December’s International Fleet Review.

Naklua wasn’t within view of the foreign dignitaries, so Pattaya officials apparently weren’t concerned about cleaning up the area.

Tourists noticed, however, adding to Pattaya’s persistent reputation as having dirty beaches.

Bit ironic using a picture of the illegal shore reclamation ( in front of the hotel ) to put in a thread about how city hall won't do their job!

Seems city hall is only to be found when it's building or approving projects like the failed marina, the failed Bali Hi car park, the Waterfront disaster, the destruction of the waterfront promenade leading to the light house by speedboats, the shade devoid beach walkway that collapses, widening Beach Rd without putting in functioning drains, sand replenishment schemes that don't actually replenish sand, putting sewage plants next to popular bar complexes, and installing pedestrian crossing lights that don't work.

However, it's really good at not doing anything useful, like rubbish recycling and removal from Larn, traffic control, policing, parking control, and infrastructure maintenance.

However, seems that they can be found looking at cigarettes in the sand, demolishing things badly, ruining livelihoods of beach chair vendors and ladies of the walkway, and saying lots of things that sound good, but never actually doing anything.

The difference is that all the things you mentioned first are profit-producers whereas all the services you mentioned later are profit-reducers.

A cigarette ban should fix everything.

They even built a robot which can clean beaches...is that thing broken already or why don't they use it? It was made in Thailand so must be of the highest quality and can work nonstop me thinks.
