Second Tourist Visa/getting A Visa In Hanoi

Featured Replies

I am just about to spend 6 weeks in Thailand and will be entering the country on a 60 day tourist visa. I will then be travelling to Vietnem for about 6 weeks and am intending to re-enter Thailand for another 2 months. I am a bit confused with info from various sources. Firstly, I have been told that there should be at least a 90 day gap between the two visas. I have also been informed that in order to obtain a tourist visa in Hanoi, proof of leaving Thailand is necessary ........ fair enough, but was told that said leaving date cannot be later than 60 days after application ......... ie if I want to apply for a 60 day tourist visa, I can't do really do this much in advance of my planned arrival date. Any clarification would be much appreciated............ thanks

Not aware of any such policy of not granting tourist visas inside a 90 day time frame and would not make much sense as tourists do travel and require new visas in normal course of events. Do not believe it.

I believe onward travel is a requirement at Hanoi but it should be within 90 days as a tourist visa allows that amount of time as a normal extension of 30 days is routine.

In any event you should not have a problem as you can return for 30 days entry without visa and do again to cover the 60 days if worse comes to worse.
