90 Day Reporting

Featured Replies

On another thread a poster said that you did not have the 7 extra days to report your 90 day stay. Is this true or can you still get the extra 7 days?

The Thai Immigration Bureau website still says the following:

4. The notification must be made within 7 days before or after the period of 90 days expires.

However, the rules may have changed and the website has not been updated. TiT

I thought you could go as early as you wanted. I went a month early in October and that was no problem.

I can't see that being the case as you could then complete the 4 required reports immediately after you have just received your extension.

When I went they just gave me a date 90 days from the visit. I was going to be out of town for a month and they asked me why I was so early and I said I was off on holiday and they gave me the form to fill out as usual.

I didn't realise there was a mandatory amount of visits.

Someone also said that the fine for second offenders is 5k baht instead of 2k baht...is this true ??

Also, if you are late to report, say 2 weeks late, does it make any difference if you are 14 days late or 90 days late.....may as well wait for the next one, either way gunna cost ??

Again from Thai Immigration Bureau website today:

"If a foreigner staying in the kingdom over 90 days without notifying the Immigration Bureau or notifying the Immigration Bureau later than the set period, a fine of 2,000.- Baht will be collected. If a foreigner who did not make the notification of staying over 90 days is arrested, he will be fined 4,000.- Baht."

I missed my last 90-day report in December and only remembered on the the actual reporting day that happened to fall on a public holiday. My wife rang the Immigration Office which was, to my surprise, open. They said, "No problem, your husband may report up to 7 days before or 7 days after the due date". I went in person the next day and did the necessary without being fined. So I guess what is written on their web site is still pretty much up to date.

It's looking like there is a degree in flexibility in how the rules are enforced.
