Bangkok-sihanoukville (direct?)

Featured Replies

"talking to a man in a bar" last night he was saying that since last week you have been able to fly direct to sihanouk ville from Bangkok which if true would be great, however being sceptical of bar talk i tried to research it myself this morning but with no luck. Does anyone know?

when i was in snookyville in December they said the new airport would be open in

early 2007 so it wouldn't surprise me.

I deal has been done to reopen Sihanoukville Airport. At present the only plannned services are domestic flights to Siem Reap. There has been talk about the possibly of international flights at some unsecified future date. However, the runway at Sihanoukville is too short for 737's to land, which reduces options for any airline wishing to fly to Bangkok

maybe the runway is ok for Bangkok Airways fleet of 717's though ?

buriramboy this was on wikpedia :-

" The airport's runway is being extended to 2,200 meters

By late 2007, larger airplanes like the Boeing 737 will be able to use the airport

and international routes will be opened then, with Bangkok Airways reportedly planning to be among the first to fly in "
