Police are investigating an incident at a Chonburi school between a parent and a caretaker that left a 24 year old man with cuts in three places from a box cutter.

Kriangsak Kaewtayat, 24, who lives opposite the school said that he had taken his two year old daughter Orgas to play in the playground in the late evening as she was irritable. He alleged he was approached by the caretaker who then attacked him with what he thought was a pencil at first but turned out to be a box cutter (Stanley knife).

He suffered wounds to the neck, arm and chest as he tried to defend himself while protecting his daughter, he claimed. He was taken to hospital.

Samet police arrived and the caretaker Kriang Yasawut, 53, told a different story. He said calmly that his job was to protect the school. It was fast approaching dusk and he said politely to the parent that it would be better if he came back the next day as if anything was damaged or went missing he would have to take responsibility.

He said that Kriangsak flew into a rage and attacked him. He defended himself with the box cutter.

Police arrested the caretaker and took him in for further questioning, reported Thai Rath.

The school was not named.

Defended himself using a box cutter, hells teeth !!

Maybe faults on both sides, i understand the caretaker saying please leave, come back tomorrow, but he was already armed, ready to use the knife and injure somebody.

A caretaker usually has quite a lot of duties that might involve having to cut something. So he may have been carrying as a tool rather than a weapon picked up specifically to injure the parent. Besides which, given the usual younger more affluent reactions of being told something by a security guard, caretaker or someone they perceive to be socially lower class, his panic may be more understandable.
