webfact Posted March 16, 2018 Share Posted March 16, 2018 Pattaya pickpocket nabbed after allegedly robbing tourist By The Nation A reportedly notorious pickpocket in Pattaya, who operated under the pretence of being a lollipop vendor, has been arrested for allegedly stealing from an Indian tourist. Chang Chompu, 42, was taken into custody Friday morning after he had allegedly stolen a purse from the tourist at a beer-bar on Pattaya beach on Thursday night. The purse contained US$600 (Bt18,720) and Bt2,000 in cash. Deputy Pattaya police chief Pol Lt-Colonel Somphan Suksamran said the suspect had been preying on foreign tourists on Pattaya beach by pretending to sell lollipops. He had recently been released from jail on a drugs charge. Many of these petty criminals come from villages far away from Pattaya, they come to Pattaya looking for rich pickings so why not kick them out of town? A passing Ladyboy? A kindly taxi driver? A harlot with a heart of gold?
