PM calls political parties in for discussion in June

 

 

BANGKOK, 21 March 2018 (NNT) – Thailand's Prime Minister has called an informal meeting with political parties in June. 

Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Gen Prawit Wongsuwan, led members of the Cabinet in a visit to Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha’s home to wish him happy birthday on the occasion of his 64th birthday.

 

Gen Prayut thanked the assembly of ministers and bid them to continue to work proactively for the nation’s stability, prosperity and sustainability. He also asked that they continue to monitor civil servants and ensure transparency before he handed out bags of Gor Kor 43 Rice, a special strain researched by Ramathibodi Hospital. 

The Prime Minister stressed that public relations efforts must continue so that all citizens are wary of summer storms which are forecast to affect Thailand this week and that preparations to provide assistance must be made. 

After chairing the day’s Cabinet meeting, the PM made known that he has invited all the nation’s political parties to a discussion this June. It is to focus on the timeframe of the general election as well as other issues that still need to be resolved. Gen Prayut said as many decicions as possible will be made on that day to move the process towards the poll along. 

He remarked that he does not wish to know the policies of each political party, rather only to be assured that they will work in the best interests of the public and that they will continue the works of the current administration. 

On the National Legislative Assembly forwarding its draft act on senators' backgrounds to the Constitution Court, Gen Prayut said it was a legal move and his government would not intervene in the process. He admitted his only concern is that the court’s hearing does not impact the timeline of the general election. 

Asked about a similar submission of the draft act on the backgrounds of Members of Parliament, Gen Prayut said it was not a matter for his administration to decide.

That is: you OBEY whatever I tell you to do and believe; you do NOT consult the Thai people (who are they, anyway?); you DO NOT QUESTION anything I tell you must be done - because I work for the best interests of Thailand. Because everything has to happen after Songkran. Thailand grinds to a halt in the lead up to Songkran and then does not return to normality until a month or so later. After a long period of mourning for the many road and unnecessary water related deaths.

Bloody liar! Cherry-picking the best bits from each party will be top of this cretin's agenda. The whole meeting scheme stinks to high heaven, since election time-frame and other matters can be sorted without parties being pressured into patronising this small-minded man. And, as regards P1's concern for new parties 'working in the best interests of the public', that has already been assessed in their registration process.

 

This Prayut feller . . . he simply does not know where to draw the fair-ethics line. But he is 64 . . . I guess we should allow for that.

Let's hope so. And I do want to be there as he loads his domestic stuff - especially his blouses - onto his specially built Mercedes pickup and negotiates the turn, out of Government House. A photo of that would force even my wedding pic to move across the mantelpiece . . . or shelf, in Thailand, of course.

And explain that they might as well plan their futures outside of politics. The top job is already filled although many may not realize it. The election will just be a waste of their efforts.....
