British ‘porn dancer’ freed from jail

A British expat convicted of producing pornography over the promotion of a pool party using images deemed “pornographic” was released from prison on Tuesday evening. Yin Srang, spokesman of Siem Reap Provincial Court, yesterday confirmed that Daniel Jones, 31, was released from prison on Tuesday, but declined to comment further.

 

Mr Jones’ lawyer Sourng Sophea said his client left prison at about 5pm on Tuesday, adding he wasn’t sure if Mr Jones would be deported. “I still think that he did not commit any crime,” he said, adding that it was the court’s discretion to convict his client.

 

The provincial court on Tuesday convicted Mr Jones of producing pornography, sentencing him to one year in jail but suspending 10 months of the term. Mr Jones was among 10 foreigners arrested in January after police raided their pool bash at a private villa in Siem Reap city, a popular hub for tourists near the Angkor Wat temple ruins.
