webfact
Accident-prevention measures for black spots in Ayutthaya By The Nation FILE photo//Google maps Ayutthaya police and a road-safety committee in the central province have reached an agreement on measures to prevent accidents at five spots where they often occur. The agreement was reached during a meeting on Wednesday morning between police, the committee and 25 government agencies concerned. The meeting was held in preparation for the long Songkran holidays, when a lot of tourists are expected to visit the province or drive through it to other provinces. Ayutthaya is a gateway to the northern and northeastern provinces. The meeting agreed to improve drivers’ visibility at three major intersections - Wat Bote Lang Intersection on Sena-Phakhai road in Sena district, Wat Korphai Intersection on Bang Bal-Phakhai road in Bang Bal district and Miyazawa Intersection on Bang Bal-Phakhai in Bang Bal district. Officials will remove tall weeds along the roadside and advertising signs that block the view of drivers, and will set up warning signs and place rubber traffic cones at the intersections. Police will set up warning signs and warning lights at the bridge over the railway line at kilometre marker No 25 on the Asia highway to warn motorists of possible accidents. On the bridge over the Uthai Intersection in Bang Pa-in district, police will set up traffic cones to prevent motorists from making u-turns at the foot of the bridge that cut in front of other vehicles.
