Social Security Ministry officials ‘siphoned off state funds’

SOME PORTIONS of the state budget for the destitute have flowed into bank accounts of top officials at the Social Development and Human Security Ministry, relevant authorities have found.

 

“But at this point, we have not found any link to political-office|holders or politicians,” Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) acting secretary general Lt Colonel Korntip Daroj revealed|yesterday. 

 

PACC has been investigating all state-run protection centres for the destitute across the country after a university student, who was posted as an intern at the Khon Kaen Protection Centre for the Destitute, noticed irregularities and blew the whistle. 

 

Ongoing investigations have already found suspicious practices at 56 centres and implicated 96 officials. 

 

Korntip said PACC would ask the Social Development and Human Security Ministry, which oversees the centres, to transfer accused officials. 

 

“At present, the Anti-Money Laundering Office has helped us with the examination of financial flows,” he added.

The Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) should employ the young girl who exposed the fraud. Then they could keep watch on her to make sure she doesn't do the same again and expose them again as the worthless anti-corruption body they are. 

The PACC anbd the NACC do virtually nothing to search out and prevent corruption (except where the Shins are concerned). All they seem to do is clean up the mess after someone blows the whistle while at the same time protecting the masterminds in those officials in high places.

This theft was instituted in almost every province in the entire country. 

The idea that the top of the top were not coordinating the whole thing, is absolutely ludicrous.

And what will happen to those criminals?

Absolutely nothing......Because they will be protected be their equal immoral bosses at the top of the food chain.

Government officials in Thailand.....on all levels...are clearly covered by blanket impunity....!!

And nothing will change......because the corruption increases the closer you get to the top.

Where can i blow the whistle where someone listens and takes action? Corruption is out of control here in kanchanaburi but most places i would say. Problem is most officials are corrupt directly or are in the fact they know whats going on and turn a blind eye.

Convictions not an option then. Mainly sounds like an exercise to rotate personnel so that another bunch can get their turn at the trough. 

 

Sufficient to remove any doubt, if any remained, that this is a self-serving elite regime who make and break the rules at will for their own advantage. But that news will surprise no one. The system is so obvious it's comical - it almost satirizes itself. This particular affair will all be forgotten in a few days.

The only purpose any administration should have is to protect the people from anybody who wants

to steal from them ... most of all from Governments.

If the mafia comes and wants 20% "protection money" you call them criminals !

If you change the words from "Mafia" to "Government" and from "Protection Money"

Definitely orchestrated from above. So widespread - shows that the grasping for money above 'the right thing to do' is the norm in the Thai mind? "Thai love Thai" as a slogan is total rubbish.
