The Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) has resolved to set up a sub-committee to probe alleged corruption at protection center for the destitute in 16 more provinces, bringing the number of the centers under investigation to 33.

The 16 provinces are Pattani, Satun, Songkhla, Chumphon, Phuket, Ranong, Mae Hong Son, Lampang, Phitsanulok, Pichit, Kamphaeng Phet, Chanthaburi, Saraburi, Lop Buri, Samut Songkram and Si Sa Ket.

PACC secretary-general Lt Col Korntip Daroj said the corruption practice involved the budget of about 503 million baht allocated for the destitute.

disgusting

This story contains the very essence of Thainess.

This whole thing is sickening.

It's changing my mind on a lot of things.

Can't post anymore on it.

Yes disgusting, disgraceful and more adjectives.

But even worse, no real comment from the minister concerned or the seniors in government.

This is an excellent opportunity to show they are really serious about corruption, but not a word.

At the very least, very disappointing.

Grubs!

even after all these years, thailand continues to surprise; problem is: Not in a good way

 - There was alleged corruption at the Protection Centers for the Destitute in a total of 33 provinces.

Were these alleged activities "coordinated" across the 33 provinces ?

If not, then it is bizarre that the local people in charge of the Protection Centers in the 33 provinces *all* [might have] had the *same* idea.

Its sickening, but at least its exposed. Now all we need to do is see how it is processed, if people get off easy then it would be real sickening.. otherwise its  a great thing corruption found and punished. I won't hold my breath... but if they wanted to hide it they would not have constantly extended their investigations.

Though on the other hand why has it taken so long for them to swing into action.. probably public pressure.

Yes, that is bat at least Prayut who says he fights corruption should make some statements about this corruption and make an example of this case. But on the other hand, they are constantly enlarging the investigation. They would not do that if they wanted to hide it.

For me its a wait and see kinda situation. I don't expect miracles though.

What is the point of the PACC ?

If they need a sub committee <deleted> do they get paid to do actually???? Surely that’s their job and don’t need a committee - sub committee or anything else

The 33 mentioned is a 'new ave' of discoveries. It's already well reported that there's proof of the same stuff in dozens of other additional provinces.

And there's already comment from the authorities that yes it's in some way well coordinated across regions / provinces.

IMHO, given the size of the corruption that's now been discovered it seems to me that a number of senior people must have known what's going on, way too many people involved to be kept totally under wraps, people talk, people gossip.

Budgets of the size involved here were never going to get to their destination.

We should be outraged at the immorality of it but not shocked that it has occured, we know how this country works.

It's already mentioned in the news media that there is proof that it's coordinated at a more senior level and across many provinces...

Nothing "bizarre" about it at all... and probably not connected.
Most Thais in charge of a budget are one way or another are fiddling the books!!

It's inbred from birth!

Where there's cash there's corruption... Thainess

Sadly, just normal service for here in most government departments away from TAT/the press and the rest of the fake razzmatazz that is forced down everyone's throats.

I just can't keep up with all these anti-corruption groups/departments.
