1 Year Rental Lease of Condo - want to stay another 3-4 months

Featured Replies

I have a 1 year rental lease of a condo I'm renting from a landlord. If I want to stay for another 3-4 months, how does it usually work? Do I need to ask the rental agent for another 3-4 month lease extension or can I just tell the agent I want to stay on and continue on a periodical basis of a month by month basis, on the same rental terms, after my 1 year lease has finished?

it just rolls month by month after the initial 12 months, unless one party wants a new agreement

In which case, legally, you don't have a bona fide lease agreement. I went through this way back when I was involved in a court case, but my lease was not valid, as I just continued after my first 6-month lease to rent for another 5.5 years, month to month.

In the OP's case, make sure you have a TM30 for your lease before it goes month to month, if the landlord agrees.
