Two slim food supplement products found to be tainted with dangerous substances

 

 

The Food and Drug Administration has warned consumers to exercise extreme caution in the use of two slim food supplement products after it was discovered that the two products contain ingredients that can pose health danger to consumers.

 

The two products in question are Lyn FS3 which was found to contain bisacodyl, a stimulant laxative which increases movement of intestine, and Lyn Block Burn Break Build which contains sibutramine.

 

Both products are produced by Food Science Supply Service Co in Pathum Thani province.

"...FDA announced today (April 27) that the medical science centre in Chon Buri had tested samples of the two products collected from shops which sell food supplement products in Tambon Ban Suan, Muang district.

The findings of the tests show the two products contain the two ingredients, sibutramine and bisacodyl which can be dangerous to health and constitute impure food substance.  Violation is liable to two-year imprisonment and/or a fine of not exceeding 20,000 baht..."

 

If the testing of the products show that they use substances which can be dangerous to health, why isn't there an immediate recall of the products?

 

This seems like the minimum action required. What could they possibly be waiting for? Someone to be harmed? Does this not meet the basic purpose of Public Health and Safety?

However, the FDA does nothing to effectively address the public's consumption of gross amounts of sugar and alcohol, which pose a bigger health danger to consumers, and are responsible for the obesity and type 2 diabetes, that the supplements are supposed to help "cure".

Why I never hear of FDA?

Why they quiet? Many bad things in Thailand.

Those slimming agents contain sibutramine, highly effective but dangerous for those who can't tolerate it. They put it in because it works. I have once used it I stopped because it made it hard for me to sleep, but it did have its effect on my appetite. There have been accidents with the substance that is why its no longer in use.

and who is responsible for the overseeing of these products.

in the meantime, safe products sent from IHERB are more & more subject to extortion taxes for which many have to travel far & long in that post office near immigration, while I would prefer 10x more to pay the mailman the extortion taxes like you do in any western country...

Thais don't care if it arsenic as long as you get skinnier. Short term gains FTW.

No recall? Lip service by gov't agency. Why bother saying anything.
