Suspect arrested for giving drugs to children

Featured Replies

Preah Sihanouk provincial police yesterday questioned a worker from a Chinese-owned club for allegedly giving drugs to underage children, who were reported to be under the influence on Friday in Sihanoukville. Pol Phosda, chief of Sihanoukville police, said that after questioning the suspect at the city police station, he was transferred to provincial police for further action. “After questioning the man, we sent him to the provincial police’s anti-drug bureau to continue the procedure to send him to court,” he said.

Choun Narin, chief of the provincial police, wrote on his Facebook page yesterday that three children affected by drugs were initially assumed to have consumed expired beverages, but an investigation found they had been given drugs by a worker at the Men Club. “Last night [Saturday], police forces raided the Men Club and tested the urine of all of the workers,” he said. “One worker tested positive for drugs, and it was the one who mixed a form of ecstasy with a soft drink and gave it to the three children.”

Mr Narin said the raid followed the discovery of three children, aged between seven and 10, who were found by their parents to be very noisy and uncontrollable after they were given a drug-tainted beverage by Van Vutha, 17, who found the drugs near the club in the early hours of Friday when he was throwing away rubbish.
