Best option for hassle free border bounce (Malaysia)

Featured Replies

Greetings, was wondering which border is the best for a easy border bounce?

Padang Besar, Sadao or satun .I have a non-o based on marriage and it will be my first run down south.

Regards in advance.

I usually go to the smaller ones.

Less busy and in general easier to get through.

So Padang Besar or even better, Wang Kelian.

And if possible drive yourself!

Never heard of Wang kelian,  I'll look into it. I'll definitely be driving also. I take it they don't enforce a one night stop over?

No, in/out in 10 minutes.

If you go to the big border you will need transport to bring you to the Malaysian checkpoint or export your car and import it again.

At the Wan Kelian border the distance between the Thai and Malaysian checkpoint is about is about 40 meter.

Hello all,

Just a question, we are 3 people with a car that will be near Wang Prachan border and will need a visa run, 2 of the passports are on 60 Tourist day visas and the other 30 day visa Exemption, Canadian & Hungarian passports. Is it possible to get the 30 day visa exemption on arrival and not need to stay a night in Malaysia? I am getting conflicting information on this? Some say that returning the same day is not possible?

Thanks for your help

I use this border crossing quite often. A quick over and back should be fine. I have never heard of or seen them requiring an overnight stay. I went over and back in August of last year and had no problems.

Thank you Kim!  Will try it out
