PM wishes to foster reconciliation among politicians

BANGKOK, 7th May 2018 (NNT) – Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha said he wanted to cultivate a culture of reconciliation between the ruling party and the opposition as a basis for a peaceful society.

In his national televised speech, Gen Prayut pointed out that the members of the public are familiar with a parliamentary system where the ruling party administers the nation and the opposition party keeps the government in check, adding that the existence of both sides is solely to protect the best interests of the public.

The prime minister said he wished to rename the opposition party the “opposing and supportive party” so as to change the negative vibe in parliament.

Under the proposed term, the opposing and supportive side will hold the ruling party accountable to the public while at the same time contributing to development projects and reform related undertakings.

This way, he said, the country will be able to cultivate a culture of reconciliation, unity, and trust, and the upper and lower houses will be able to settle differences rationally and peacefully.

Looks like he has already got everything in place for himself to keep a tight hold of the reins.

I will say it again, the poor delusional man lives in la-la land.

His poor brain must be working overtime thinking up nonsense like this.

wishes wont make it happen, neither will renaming parties in parliament; he is puffing himself up, more unbridled arrogance, as the great reconciliator, if only on TV

Referring to Thailand or the government as a dictatorship, military dictatorship or other such terms will be removed:

'The prime minister said he wished to rename the opposition party the “opposing and supportive party” '

Want to place a bet on how swiftly that little word, 'opposing', will be dropped and we will be left with 'The Supportive Party'?

Prayut and the junta rule, OK? (All in the name of reconciliation, of course).

This is getting more Orwellian by the day!

Which party is he referring to?

The only negative vibe is coming from this deluded daydreamer.

I always thought that was the objective of an opposition party to keep checks on the ruling party ! but then again if you have no opposition you can do whatever you want ! Seems to be happening well at the moment

In the context of what is being said he is really meaning that he wants to create a culture where any future opposition is subservient and slavish to the ongoing "democratic" military government.

It is difficult to figure out if he is really this dumb or he thinks the average Thai is really this dumb.   Thais are reconciled with either a junta, Prayut Chan-o-cha free life or a life in a rudderless country with less fun and opportunity.

Good question, Yellowboat: is he really this dumb? The answer (from all available evidence): YES!

You are right not to believe him, Anak Nakal. For Prayut, 'reconciliation' means 'do what I tell you - and then you will be reconciled with me!'

Oh be fair, at least it's creative nonsense. It probably came to him during his songwriter's block.

ROFL

The garbage spewing from him is so rich. He must be moonlighting a linguistics course.

Can this dimwit govern in a democratic environment. Thailand will be in the hands of a delusional demigod if he ever steal the premiership and form the government.

Prayut (May 201) - "In order for the situation to return to normal quickly and for society to love and be at peace again … and to reform the political, economic and social structure, the military needs to take control of power," http://www.dw.com/en/curfew-in-effect-in-thailand-following-military-coup/a-17654739

The [Lack of a] reconciliation process following the 2014 coup in Thailand

  • "If one is to believe the military’s stated intention of bringing about reconciliation, it is incomprehensible why they did not make earlier plans for a return to a democratic, civilian government. They completely ignored the first principle of reconciliation and ignored international advice to have a free election as soon as possible."
  • "In Prayuth’s view, if someone does not think or see the world as he does, he or she lacks Thainess and is a danger to Thai society; he, Prayuth, is right and the other person is wrong."

https://prachatai.com/english/node/7391

After almost four years of Prayut's failed (alleged) reconciliation process, what's left for him? Continued imposition of a military government through some quasi-political pro-military coalition seems to be where he's now heading.

Give him a break Col. Look at his face. Kind caring for the Thai people and honestly butter would not melt in his mouth. How many times have you heard from the guy saying Thailand has gone ahead in leaps and bounds since he took office.  Ok he a minor hiccup with corruption going through the roof and deputy Pm spending money like water and Thai people getting poorer and poorer while the big business are getting richer and throw in a few old subs and old tanks and you might say he is doing ok.lol lol lol Oh don't forget that 50 million baht balloon that was shelved also and the money just wasted

Reconciliation amongst politicians and the gov will come when he and little turd P leave. Can't buy love from disdain.

He could quote Yingluck soon: "This is MY Democracy..."

Except that he stole it from her and won't release it since it is all his now...

Or he is more like gollum and will rename it "my precious" :cheesy:

Power corrupts. Absolute Power corrupts absolutely....

Say what you like chaps, but this bloke has standards!

Imagine yomping all the way up those mountains dressed in a suit to make a TV broadcast, in this heat - and not a hair out of place.

Getting closer to a one party state with each passing day.

Ahhh... it's springtime, and the scent of political attitude adjustment is in the air!

No. That is why the process which will install him as the post junta prime minister will bear no resemblance to democracy...
