A man who won 34 million baht in the lottery and quit his humble job selling vegetables is dead.

Wichan "Sia Noo" Phanthong, 43, was the passenger in a Toyota Fortuner that slammed into a tree on the Ban Phaew to Klong Tan road in Samut Sakhon on Saturday night.

Police called to the scene near the temple of Wat Jet Rew found the car smashed into an Almond Wood tree.

Seriously injured in the accident was the driver Bunlom Suksakhon, also 43, who is the elder brother of the dead man's wife.

Witnesses said they heard the sound of braking then a loud crash.

Daily News said Wichan won 34 million baht in the lottery and quit his job as a vegetable seller by the railway tracks.

He bought land with his windfall and opened a shrimp farming business.

Thai man wins 34 million baht... then dies in a mysterious accident.

Nothing suspicious here. Nothing at all.

It would be interesting to see full pictures of the crash, what part of the fortuner hit the tree?

Probably knew that the lottery winner never wears a seatbelt so tries to crash the car in a way that anyone not wearing a seatbelt is guaranteed to die.

Probably driving with his big monied balls.

the conspiracy none sense on here sometimes is laughable. people die on the roads, as you know, this only made the news because of his lottery win. an accident perhaps? oh no. he won some money so was knocked off. doubtful :saai:

It has been done before. Famous construction company owner killed while being driven home from golf on Chalerm Prakiat road. Sounds very similar. I even watched the re-enactment. They couldn't hit the tree the way the driver said it happened.

But you didnt read the line that stated the driver was to inherit the money, it was also unreported the wearing of a crash helmet by the driver. Many other unreported facts show a clear conspiracy.

Isn't it ironic

Don't you think?

Oh, for <deleted>'s sake folk! Is the tragedy for the associated families diminished or explained by any of our armchair crime scene speculation of the how and/or why? It's a sh*t occurrence. Leave it at that. Console the grieving.

Surely.... A brother and sister would never bind together in order to eliminate some dead weight of a rich husband who is not liked.

Geezer won a fortune then died in a fortuner. You can't make that up.

It would be interesting to see full pictures of the crash, what part of the fortuner hit the tree?

Why would it be interesting?

How's the posts where some expert  stunt driver apparently crashes the car so as to kill the passenger yet not injure themselves...:cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

If I won the lottery I would not tell anybody.

Because of the armchair experts conspiracy theory where it had to be a set-up involving, apparently, contrary to every other thread on Thaivisa an expert Thai driver and his ability to crash fortuners at will whilst simultaneously killing selected passengers only. Using pinpoint accuracy and deceleration physics to hit the tree at the correct vectors for the desired effect.

Here's a conspiracy theory. Newly minted Thai man goes out on a bender with his brother in law to celebrate newly found wealth. D-head brother in law loses control of the vehicle whilst drunk slamming into a tree and killing one and seriously injuring the other....Na that would never happen. I'm sticking with the expert stunt driver, inheritance rort, brother/ sister conspiracy,  set up theory :coffee1:
