BANGKOK, 11th May 2018 (NNT) - The committee tasked with drafting a new law governing the country’s police force has assured the people that the public will benefit from the planned reform.

Spokesman for the committee Kamnoon Sidhisamarn said on Thursday that that latest discussions on the drafting process resulted in a resolution to prepare a central law, in which investigative regulations will be made clear to ensure convenience and justice for the public.

Mr. Kamnoon said that the essence of the new draft Royal Thai Police Act includes a more open condition for members of the public to file complaints at any police station, not only where an incident has taken place.

It also grants all policemen the authority to start an investigation even outside their original jurisdiction while the people will no longer need to file complaints with the police in order to have their lost documents re-issued.

He added that the committee decided to put on hold a deliberation of the proposed transfer of the Immigration Bureau to be supervised by any agencies other than the Royal Thai Police.

Not very flattering.

Not having to get a police filing for lost documents is a great thing. Some of the revamp might actually be ok.

LOL, as if the Thais actually had any "rights and liberties" under the current Fearless Leader regime.

What about proactive policing?  What about getting them to work?

If only.

Most of them are faulty, so they don't work. Just don't expect to get your money back.

edit: "New police law to ensure public convenience" I saw the headline and initially thought it was an article about toilets.

Haha!  No, they certainly don't want us 'fuhlangs' with our 'unlimited' ATM cards to go away any time soon.  How would they support their wives, brats, and mia-noi babes without us? :shock1:

Well I'll sleep a lot better now at nights (NOT) Only know Re-active police work, it's the way they are trained that needs to change
