Blown pump fuse blamed for sewage spill

PATTAYA:--A blown fuse is being blamed for a pump failure that caused sewage to spill into Pattaya Bay near Walking Street last month.

Pattaya spokesman Pinit Maneerat said May 14 that the April 27 spill came after a high-voltage fuse in the South Pattaya pumping station burned out. As a result, sewage mixed with storm runoff to dump smelly, black wastewater into the sea and on to the sand near the opening of the nightlife strip.

Photos of the mess on social media embarrassed the city.

He said the Sanitation and Engineering departments worked to fix the pump and rewire the circuitry to prevent another overload.

You will have to explain what one of those is...they do things here the "thai way" and that,s always best :clap2:

They replaced the blown fuse with one of these to prevent a re-occurrence.

I've seen those. They're in a pack labelled 'Slow-blow Fuses'

A likely excuse.

Having managed 3 pumping stations & sewerage treatment plants all the systems that are critical are alarmed & warning lit.

They must be blind, deaf, stupid or indolent

Nope.  That's an Earth grounding rod.  ?

Use a high voltage circuit breaker. Nothing to replace.

But you have to know the circuit was down.

We used to call them nails, but that was when I was younger!

To most that would be:

a) An unknown word and

b) Considered to be the title of a horror story

What voltage are the pumps connected to? Is it high voltage? I have no idea but monitoring the condition of the motor would be a reasonable idea

Nah the slow blow ones are galvanised.

Cheers

And the brakes failed too.

I bet the fuse was manufactured in Farangland...........

In the real world yes...take out (Or not replace blown bulbs), wedge the mute/acknowledge button on & back to the Lau khao & lakorn. The operators will be as qualified as any security guard or parking attendant.

But of course. I always trust what Thai "mechanics" say without exception, so it must be so.

guys working in my condo, never seen so many joins in an extension lead, and nothing more than sellotape covering the joints, i would hate to see how they joined up the cable
