Myanmar man arrested for allegedly stabbing skipper aboard fishing boat

By The Nation

Marine police arrested a Myanmar worker on Friday for allegedly stabbing and severely injuring the skipper onboard a fishing boat in the Gulf of Thailand offshore Chumphon.

Marine police dispatched a patrol boat to intercept the Masaya Nava 15 fishing boat at 3pm on Friday after being alerted to the incident by the Port-in-Port-out Centre in Chumphon.

Worker Chamnarn Boonkong, 53, told police that a Myanmar worker had walked into the skipper’s room and stabbed him at about 2.20pm. Chamnarn saw the incident and shouted to other crew to capture the worker.

The suspect was identified as Nyi Myint Lwin, 30. The skipper, Sit Hensuk, 59, was stabbed once in his back.

Maybe the skipper just pushed him too far. Prob working him 18 hours a day for 200 baht. Who knows but he will have no chance because he is a foreign worker and the skipper is Thai. Don't think Thai skippers have much sympathy for workers from Myanmar or on building sites. That is why they employ workers on these sites from Laos Cambodia Myanmar. Treat them like slaves and pay them poorly. Also, Thai workers (Non-workers) are just too lazy to take these sorts of jobs. :WPFflags:
