Thais have been warned not to eat a brand of sweets described as the jelly beans from hell.

Videos on YouTube show people eating the "Mee Phet Narok" (Bears Hot as Hell) billed in English as "Hell Spicy Jelly".

There are claims that the candy is 3,000 times hotter than Thai chilies like Phrik Khii Noo (mouse pooh peppers).

Phoonlap Chanthawijitrawong of the Thai food and trading standards authority said they were going after the makers of the candy for false advertising and lacking necessary permissions.

While doctors have warned that the jelly bears are dangerous and could damage the lining of the stomach especially in people with a propensity for such ailments.

The candy is reported to be made from the hottest chili pepper in the world known as the Carolina Reaper, said Daily News.

Wikipedia says that the 2013 Guinness Book of Records listed it as the hottest chili in the world.

The jelly bears are marketed in Thailand by C.M. Gummi Co Ltd. and have been featured in advertising on the page "MheeMeekhong" on Facebook, said Daily News.

These so called Thai experts have their head up their ass. The Carolina Reaper is from a pepper company called pucker butt that grows strains of hot peppers. There is a chip or crisp called the one chip challenge in a box that looks like a coffin. Only one chip with the reaper powder on it Damm hot. There are warnings on the box. Also a utube show called hot ones that eat wings with guest that have different hot sauce on them. The reaper is the hotest pepper to date.

These jelly beans I sure put a warning on the package.

I am not quite up to date with modern terminology , does the phrase "head up their ass" mean that they are wrong about something ?

The clinical phrase would be cranial rectitus. Not dissimilar to ocular rectitus - having a shi**y outlook on life.

Vaping, darts and the hottest jellybeans in the world...ALL heroically banned in Thailand, Nothing like a good Nanny State.

I’m more concerned by the apparent ban on larger wine boxes as the latest nanny move.

Ouch!

Probably true. It's one thing in form of a pepper or a sauce which the stomach is able to digest, but a jelly bean takes longer to break down, could easily cause cause damage to the stomach lining while it's just sitting there.

I'm off to buy some for the local Soi dogs. :intheclub:
