Hi, I will be going to Thailand this August to study there. I was accepted in two universities in Thailand (Uni A and B). Since the process for issuing acceptance letter in Uni B took a long time, I decided to apply for visa using acceptance letter from Uni A. However, after my visa was issued, I decided to study in Uni B due to various reasons.

My question is, will there be a problem when I am doing visa extension in Thailand? and is it possible to have my data in visa revised?

Thank you

Does your non-ed visa have a note on it stating the name of the university on it?

If not you can use it to apply for an extension using the documents for the other university.

Let me check my visa again.

So, as long as there is no remarks indicating which university I'm studying, it will be ok for extension, then.

My concern is, when the immigration office put my data during extension process, they will find that I am studying in different university from their database.

If there is no remarks on the visa you will not have a problem.

Immigration has no access to any database for visas issued by a embassy or consulate.

Upon checking my visa, it seems that there is a remark indicating the university I'm attending.

So, do you have any advice to resolve the problem?

You could try to get a letter from the University that sponsored your visa stating you can use it to apply for the extension for attending the other university.

So, I ask the University A to provide letter stating that I can use the visa for attending University B?

Yes

That should satisfy immigration.

Yes you can.

Should I do the reapplication outside of Thailand or it can be in in Thailand?

What I mean is, can I just come to Thailand with this visa and upon arrival, I ask University B to provide the documents to change the visa

You would have to apply for a new visa outside of Thailand.

Immigration cannot change your visa.

Since my visa is single entry, is it possible to leave Thailand in order to cancel the visa, then enter Thailand and get tourist visa on arrival after that I requested to change tourist visa to ED visa?

Because my friend can change her tourist visa to ED visa

Yes you could do that. Immigration will do a change of visa status if you have a tourist visa entry.

Thank you very much for the info.

Where can I see the list of ducuments that are necessary to have tourist visa changed into ED visa?

Another question. Since I haven't come to Thailand, will it be possible to do new ed visa application? Will the embassy cancel my old visa if I do another application?

They should do it but best to check with them first.

If I enter Thailand using visa from University A and in the next month, I fly back to my home country Indonesia to apply for new ED visa for University B, do I need to get cancellation letter from University A for my visa? This concern arose when many members are talking about this cancellation letter

That is not need for a visa entry. It is only required it you have a extension of stay issued by immigration.
