Chaturon Chaisaeng, a core member of the Pheu Thai Party and former deputy prime minister, has filed a petition with the Office of the Ombudsman over the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO)’s order to suspend his financial transactions, saying that it has severely restricted his rights and freedom.

Mr Chaturon said he assigned a lawyer to file the petition on his behalf. The petition is for the Office of the Ombudsman to rule that the NCPO order is against the constitution.

He said the NCPO’s Order No 10/2557 to suspend his financial transactions was issued for the reason that he failed to report to the NCPO in a legal case. Although the reason for the suspension is no longer valid, the order is still in force, putting him in trouble for over four years.
