That looks like Les Sheldon. I have no idea where he's based these days but he certainly knows what he's doing when it comes to this sort of thing.

Well, he sounds like he is well informed and will have a lot to contribute.

Just a thought: Isn't it possible all or some of the missing group was caught unawares and washed away in a flash flood underground?

It would be worthwhile checking where the cave waters flow into a river or steam. If nothing is found to indicate otherwise, then the rescue team will know there is still hope.

He did not say anything revelationary on the posted clip:,they could have gone left or right at a junction some 1.5km into  the cave..... ? so knowledgeable ... ?

drill a large diameter hole from the top onto the known cave and explore

Drill a large Diameter hole from the top onto.....

First, you'd have to have an idea where they could be. It's been a long time now and little oxygen, the cold water, stalactites and stalagmites everywhere.

BTW, he might have some knowledge about the place, but he didn't build it, did he?

Let's hope that there's a happy end to the story.

The terrain would not allow you to be able to take a large vehicle set up with the drilling rig plus you could cause a cave in and bury the people. Large drilling is not a good idea

place some rats at the cave entrance , they will show the week points . animals are smarter than man

Do the rats know the difference between weak and week ?

The drilling began yesterday , one hole has been completed tonight (two hours ago )and letting water out and the other top hole will be getting drilled later .

It really doesnt matter about who bought the drills in !!!!!!!!!!!

The important thing is getting the kids out , rather than any countrymans national pride about their Country bought the drills in .

(Even saying that , they did look like local Thai drills and drillers)

In the Thai news it was stated that the drilling rig came over 300 km from Nakhorn Ratchasima, if I heard it correctly.  It was definitely a Thai rig.  The idea to drill was the only part of it that was American, including, perhaps, the general vicinity in which to drill.  The Thai driller complained about having too much help around, with tens of people all eager to help and stressing him as he, perhaps having nothing to give them to do and/or being unused to working in such a condition, felt under the greater pressure to succeed in his mission.  He complained of the traffic to arrive at the place, and of having had no chance to rest--and asked the news reporters to give him an hour's break.

Apparently the first hole he drilled (at a 45 degree angle? -- about 400 meters?) ran into problems and got stuck--no success.  He said something about encountering voids/holes and mud or something.  He changed the angle to drill straight down, and apparently ran into water after about 30 meters.  There was some question as to whether the water reached was that of the cave or of the water table below.  They want only to connect into the cave runoff, of course.
