A "Super Poll" conducted at the end of last week shows a high approval rating for the actions of rescuers both Thai and foreign during the drama at the Tham Luang cave.

And it also showed that almost three quarters of the population followed the news throughout.

Some 71.9% of respondents said they followed the news from the moment that the 12 boys and their coach were reported missing until their successful rescue.

A total of 94.7% hailed the Thai and foreign rescue teams as heroes .

Some 96.5% of respondents expressed confidence in the rescue saying it had shown the humanity of the nation and a fine spirit of cooperation.

A figure of 9.78 out of ten was put on the happiness rating of the Thai people resulting from the drama.

A total of 1,104 people were asked their opinions from Thursday to Saturday last week.

They’re are at it again with more self-praise analysis. It puzzles me why Thais have to seek acknowledgement of their decency and values. They would do more for themselves by examine the wrongs in their society rather than trying on a brag when something goes right.

In no way am I diminishing the excellent work of all on the rescue effort which was a great example of cooperation and coordination across many levels.

Really, do we care about a bit of boasting? Most on this and other forums, are too well acquainted with Thai thinking to expect anything less.

Is the Governor running for office. Sounds like a good Prime Minister for the country.

I think it was worth saying anyway. Yes, everyone here (well, most anyway) know all about Thais, but you don't improve someone's behaviour by ignoring the bad bits. You may not improve it anyway, I accept that, but you definitely won't improve their behaviour by regarding poor behaviour as idiosyncratic and not unacceptable.

A standard rule in people development and management is: if they do good things, be like a slot machine - compliment (reward) them sometimes. If they do bad things, be like a coke machine, correct (reprimand) them every time.
