Jingthing Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 Hi there, As many Americans know, it can be very useful and in some cases necessary to not clue U.S. financial institutions that you're living abroad. If you're always logging in from Thailand, they tend to figure it out sooner or later. There are different creative ways of dealing with this, but this thread is about VPNs. To U.S. people that have been using a paid VPN service for regular U.S. online financial institution logins over a long period of time, what have been your experiences? I assume the VPNs don't give you a static IP but that you can specific country and usually specific city area. Have you found doing this safe and secure to do your banking, etc.? The banks would be able to know its a VPN. So when they do, what have the banks done? Do they care? Locks, security calls, etc.? Interested in specific VPN companies if you've had no problems and really any and all info related to this issue. Thanks.
tropo Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 Several years ago I had a big problem with paid VPN servers that just could not hide my IP... then I discovered TunnelBear. I just love its simplicity and it has never failed me. I'm about to start my 3rd year on it. Here's a very honest review: https://thebestvpn.com/reviews/tunnelbear/ You can't use it for torrenting. If you want to hide your location from the bank in a way that they won't know you're using a VPN (because you're not), try the free TorBrowser. It's a proxy on steroids.
pmarlin Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Express VPN this from the same site above https://thebestvpn.com/reviews/expressvpn/ I have been using them for about 5 years now have no problems using american banking using an american location.
