Cambodia goes to the poll on July 29, which promises to be an easy victory for the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) despite calls for a boycott that Prime Minister Hun Sen decried. / AFP PHOTO / TANG CHHIN Sothy Cambodians on Sunday go to the poll the opposition parties have slammed as a “sham” and designed only to pave the way for Prime Minister Hun Seen to extend his 33-year rule. The Human Rights Watch (HRW) has called the general election “not genuine” and the European Union and least three other countries, the United States, Japan and Australia, have announced they would not send observers to monitor the poll. The National Election Committee (NEC) and the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) have reacted strongly to HRW’s statement which it described as politically motivated. TO bad many are being forced to vote or.... how many will go to vote, yet leave the ballet blank JUST to get their finger inked.. No telling what might happen next. Can't help but think that less than nimble minds on both sides of the border are playing with fire. Where do you think they are going to get the balls from now? And the same here. The current fella is going to be PM for years and it will be mai pen rai from the natives. One of Thaksin's family wed a close crony of Hun Sen. And at one point Thaksin, a crook on the run, was appointed as an adviser to the Hun Sen government. When a wannabee dictator gets control of the media, the military, the justice system and destroys all opposition then anything is possible. GF DID NOT vote today, but when went out for a meal she went to bathroom an came back with her ink stained finger ? Streets are totally dead, only phone shops open and tourist out and about News stations online are inaccessible for 2 days now and the speeds are crazy slow..
