I'm thinking of returning to the UK and have had a quote from a moving company for $1600 to get my stuff back 5-6 wks etc.

I've just checked TNT and they'll do it for 350usd in 4 or 5 days! (2 packages 80kg <1 cubic meter)

I originally brought the stuff from the UK - Golf clubs, clothes, hifi etc so I shouldn't have to pay any import duty on it?

What should I put on the commercial invoice to make sure no duty has to be paid?

Thanks

I use TNT a lot to ship to UK and they require a written manifest and duty is adjudged on that so if you itemize things or at least most of it and state contents as used and originally purchased UK there should'nt be a question of any tax to be paid.

I work for DHL and dont know if TNT are same, but,

just list items with value

write purchased in the uk and returning them to the UK

Should be ok

Done this with TNT from Pattaya, i sent a used xbox and clothes e.t.c back to the uk.

Make sure you state e.g used goods sent back to family.

And if they want a value only put on the invoice a value of no more than £34.

What is your Thai visa status ?

Posted

The visa is a type B.

I spoke to TNT UK and they said they won't deliver to a residential address in the UK. Big Spuds - does DHL have this restriction?

I also spoke to UK customs, they said I need to download a C3 form off their website and attach this to the shipment.

Cheers

Not sure if this is correct or not.....and it's for Australia anyway........but I undrstood that if I purchased something here in Thailand and owned it for more than 1 year then I would not have duty to pay on it upon returnto Oz !?? Any thoughts ?

Keep it Simple.Call TNT and use the Economy Express Service.Minimum is 31Kgs and cost Baht7800 for 5/6 day delivery. No delivery to UK res address is nonsence.Tell them that it is a business address. These TNT idiots also do not have a weight scales in there vans so they will weight it back in the depot and inform you next day that you will have to pay more. There are 2 charges, per kilo and actual weight(volume).

Not sure about DHL but i am 80% sure it would be ok to send back the UK. Cannot see any reason why there would be a problem. Never sent anything to the UK just to Thailand.

TNT delivered yesterday to my residential address in UK as they do often. Can be a slight problem as they pay tax on your behalf and will want to be sure they can reclaim it off you so they might be a little cautious but we never have a problem.

Be carefull with DHL or FEDEX. I have seen and heard lots of complaints from people that goods will be classified as new commercial goods and full duties charged no matter what.

DHL and FEDEX are more concerned with zipping shipments through customs than cost. Its not their money.

Most of the shippers complaining were U.S. based so might be an example of U.S. business ethics and customer service. So don't quote me.
