German couple convicted over rape, online sale of young son

Berlin: A German mother and her partner were convicted Tuesday over the repeated rape of the woman's young son and for selling him for sex on the internet for more than two years. They were sentenced to prison in a case that has horrified the country.

 

News agency DPA reported that the Freiburg state court in southwestern Germany sentenced the woman, who has been identified as Berrin Taha, in line with German privacy rules, to 12 years in prison for rape, sexual abuse and forced prostitution.

 

Her partner, Christian Lais, was sentenced to 12 years. The court ruled that the man, who had a previous conviction for child abuse, must remain in preventive custody after serving his sentence.

Agreed.......they have ruined that young Boy's life, so it is only right to take away their freedoms for life......I cannot think of any act lower than this.....

Life is not enough, mentally sick and depraved, they may not get through their sentence when the other inmates find out what they have done, I live in hope.

What are the sentencing guidelines for Judges that allow them to give a 12 year sentence?  I'll freely admit that some criminals do turn over a new leaf after incarceration but history has shown it to be unlikely in many child abuse cases.  To use your own child as a sexual toy to earn money for yourself and your paedophile boyfriend is about the lowest form of life; you cannot call them animals as the animal kingdom is better behaved than this.  Wanton disregard for the safety of a minor and the need to provide a safe upbringing to this extent should bring a life sentence with no hope of parole; give them the option of choosing the death sentence if they don't fancy it.

The poor child will spend years in therapy and may even become a danger to others as he grows up, as has been shown in many abuse cases.

There's no point worrying about death as we all appear to be living in Hell anyway!

 

Sometimes cruel and unusual punishment is required, this has fallen well short of what was deserved in my eyes. Animals both of them.
