BANGKOK, 15th August 2018 (NNT) - The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) will organize a workshop to study lessons learned from the Tham Luang cave rescue operation.

The DDPM Director-General, Chayapol Thitisak, said on Tuesday (Aug 14th) that the government and the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) had assigned his department to hold the workshop to study lessons learned from the Tham Luang cave rescue operation at Tham Luang - Khun Nam Nang Non Forest Park in Chiang Rai province.

During the workshop, participants will discuss topics, such as rescue operation management, mapping the cave's geometry, excavation, and water pumping methods.

The workshop will be held on August 15th and 16th, 2018, at S.D. Avenue Hotel, Bangkok, to determine the national disaster management guidelines.

The Tham Luang cave is still closed to all visitors, following the successful rescue of 12 young footballers and their coach who were trapped in the cave complex for more than two weeks since June 23rd, 2018.
