The Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases has accepted for further trials two cases filed by the prosecutors against seven monks and three lay persons in connection with an alleged embezzlement of temple development funds.

The two senior monks indicted by the prosecutors in the first case are the former Phra Phrom Dilok, the former abbot of Wat Sam Phraya and former Bangkok monastic chief, and his former secretary the former Phra Atthakijsophan. They are charged with violating Section 157 of the Criminal Code and money-laundering. The two did not apply for bail.

The other five monks arraigned by the court in a separate case are the former Phra Phromsitthi, former abbot of Wat Saket Ratchavoramahaviharn, and his four former assistant abbots.

Just feel sorry for Thai people. They are poor and then they got these maggots stealing cash off them Put them in jail frocked or defrocked who cares and throw away the key. They remind me of these low down Monks of saying to people "we are men of god trust us" to a bit like Himmler saying to the jews as they are going into the gas chamber "Trust me you are only going for a shower"

in recent years we have seen just how much money etc has become a big part of monks and their temples, so much for them living a life of no luxuries and temptations. Many monks these days have thrown the laws they are supposed to abide by out the window and are now in it for themselves, when will we see the govt crack down on them and stop the corruption that has become endemic with many of them, time to take being a monk back where it belongs and no longer a money making venture
