Whenever I pass a street vendor selling corn I think it looks great and maybe I should get a healthy snack.

But then I look at the corn. Perfect shape, all the same size, bright yellow color, and then they put something on it to make it delicious.

Is this healthy? How do they get the color? What do they put on it?

Does anyone know?

Just like I like the street vendor's BBQ chicken legs and sticky rice. But what do they put on it to make it delicious?

Does anyone know?

I've gotten into ears of sweet corn as well and it's of varying quality; the best seems to be the 'Royal Project' stuff at tescos, perfect kernels, bright yellow color, to the stuff at the talaat which is mostly more cob than kernel...the fresh tescos stuff I steam myself and the cooked ears at the market come with the husks on...

I just eat it without any sauces, very sweet per the local taste and no good fer the diabetes as my BG sampling has revealed...but good fer a snack, nice and filling...where I live it's common to see the local motorcycle sidecar jockeys that work at the market racing around with one hand on the throttle and the other stuffing some corn down their gub...

the nicest useta be at the bus stations in Latin America, 'elote', one of the cheapest snacks you can buy and there's usually a nice chile sauce (not salsa) that the vendor has available in a bucket...some of it not sweet, but very tasty...
