An army of about 500 Chinese investors will meet their Thai counterparts and officials at the 6thThailand-China Joint Committee on Trade, Investment and Economic Cooperation and the Thailand-China Business Forum 2018 during August 24-25.

Led by State Councillor Wang Yong, the Chinese businessmen will be take on an inspection tour of the Eastern Economic Corridor where the Chinese investments are to be put.

Industry Minister Uttama Savanayana said the Chinese investors were interested in ten targeted industries such as digital industry, aviation industry, robotics industry, smart industry and biotechnology industry.

17 MoUs are to be signed between Thailand and China during the brief visit – ten between the private sectors of the two sides and the rest by the two governments.

Swinging the door open wide and letting the devil all the way in is a bad mistake. Huge money spells just like a take over. A tick comes to mind. Once its in it and buried way deep down, it is very hard to get the head out. Anyway, my eldest daughter speaks Chinese and my youngest 15 year taking it in school. Told them gonna start a new business for them and take the Chinese money.

Like signing your rights away? So what are the 17 "items" that will be traded?

You thought there were too many Chinese at the airports? Wait till they take all the jobs in these projects.

Long spoons gentlemen, prepare your long spoons...

Forget learning Thai, all you'll need from now on is Mandarin/Pinyin, and its easier to learn!

Possibly this is the beginning of the end for Thai nationhood as we know it, in a century or two this will be a Southern Chinese Province, but it's really just a long cycle, where did the warlord elite of yore hail from to begin with?

Welcome home, Thailand!

after Malaysia shut down all the big Chinese mega projects they gotta go somewhere.

In all seriousness, the ONLY way for Prayut's grand Thailand 4.0 vision to succeed, particularly the latest IT governmental thing, is via Chinese know-how.

Whatever else you wanna say about the overreach of the CCP,  the Chinese as Engineers, are lightning fast, proficient, and possess the sheer numbers to get shit DONE and quickly.

Exhibit A: Sihanoukville. From sleepy seaside whorehouse to Casino City in 18 months flat!

It is clear from the excellent Medical Industry here, that when talented locals are externally educated, they are as capable as anyone.

What WILL be interesting to observe, is how the Thai bureaucracy will be dealt with, and exactly WHO will be the ultimate 'boss' of all these projects.

There CANNOT be two.

And the Party under Xi do not suffer fools or corruption gladly.

They are also probably the most astute/devious business operators ever to draw breath.

Interesting times indeed!

In a few years, Thailand will not be able to claim they have never been colonized.

More likely to become Memorandums of Misunderstandings when loans and interest rates and repayment terms get to be discussed. I seem to recall Thailand went to water on the finance deal proposed by China for the High Speed Rail.

MOUs are nothing. I would suggest no contracts will be signed until after an election if and when a stable Government is in place.
