webfact Posted August 27, 2018 Share Posted August 27, 2018 Junta and Election Commission must address issues of primary election and political restrictions The National Council for Peace and Order and the Election Commission must sit down together to resolve two crucial political issues – unlocking of political restrictions and primary election, Mr Suriyasai Katasila, director of the College of Social Innovations, Rangsit University, suggested today. He pointed out that the two issues are co-related and should be resolved at the same time otherwise there would be problems. “If the NCPO eases political restrictions, but is not clear about the modality of primary election, a new problem will emerge or a new issue will be created which may have impact on the election roadmap or create unrest during the election,” said the veteran political observer. Oxford Dictionary, etc. As Thailand has never had government mandated political party primaries, modality doesn't exist. Same applies to its new MMA electoral system.
