Lazy ministers will be terminated

Featured Replies

With a new government set to be formed on Thursday, Prime Minister Hun Sen yesterday warned that lazy ministers would lose their positions if they continued to not do their jobs. In a video clip on his Facebook page yesterday, Mr Hun Sen warned ministers who failed to tackle problems that they would be excluded from the new government.

“There is an official that only reports and complains about matters related to his subordinates. This type of person must not have their position retained,” Mr Hun Sen said. “We are using mobile applications such as Whatsapp, Line, Telegram and Viber, they keep asking me for ideas.”

“Why don’t you make the decision and do it to ensure work efficiency? Sometimes, by purpose I do not reply. If every matter requires ideas from the Prime Minister, then there is no need to have ministers in the Kingdom,” Mr Hun Sen said. Government spokesman Phay Siphan said yesterday that he could not reveal the composition of the new government, but acknowledged that lazy officials will be reshuffled.

In Thailand's case, perhaps the "terminated"  bit could be treated literally?
