Seven million land plots to be registered

The Land Management Minister has ordered provincial officials to finish the registration and distribution of seven million plots of land by 2021. Minister Chea Sophara said on Friday that the implementation of a satellite-based measuring system is the first step needed to achieve the 2021 goal.

Mr Sophara noted that provincial officials have so far registered and distributed 68 percent of plots of land throughout the country. He said that cadastre and geography departments across the country must begin drawing out foundational layouts for the declaration of areas.

“The ministry has already achieved the registration of 68 percent of land in the country,” Mr Sophara said. “By 2021, we need to register seven million plots of land.” The ministry will also distribute satellite-based equipment to the cadastre and geography departments in order to facilitate the measurement of land.
