BANGKOK, 2nd October 2018 (NNT) — The government is planning to open a special service center for people with disabilities across Thailand.

Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Chatchai Sarikulaya on Monday chaired a meeting of the committee tasked with developing the quality of life of people with disabilities, which focused on the plan to set up a special service center in many provinces.

In the meeting, which was the fourth this year, the committee stated its determination to see such a center opened in each province in order for the disabled to receive needed assistance and services as well as to find suitable employment.

According to the committee, the 2019 fiscal budget will be allocated for the setting up of these centers.

In addition, the meeting discussed the establishment of an innovation center for the disabled that will perform research on tools and equipment needed by the disabled.

They need to start at airport for disabled and send airport immigration  staff to do some training on courtesy for the disabled, after experiences I’ve had after arriving many times at airport

Seemingly, the entire country needs work in this area, and I've been around before you ask.

Agreed. Are they finally seeing past their belief system that the disabled [emoji708] must have done something bad in their previous life and karma is now to blame?

You never see old people on the bts in bangkok because the escalators only go up and the newly installed lifts all only go to concourse level

I seem to recall that some time ago (during the past 4 years) that wheel chair ramps were promised to be built for access to all Government departments? Or was this just another "hollow" promise beloved of Government and public servants?

How the hell any disabled person would get to use a ramp via a footpath is beyond me!

Isn't this lovely.

Expecting an exceptionally meticulous scheme and program to be completed in the usual encompassing quality and Thai bureaucratic manner. ????

What a wonderful government. Wasn't it not so long ago that it was exposed corrupt civil servants set up a scam system to steal money from the disabled. It has been claimed 1.5 billion baht is stolen from the disabled every year. And these non-compus cretins sit there wanting everyone to believe they are the font of goodwill. Take a look at the goose in the photo!
