any shop/person that does soldering on electronics ?

Featured Replies

I have an electric device that needs be opened and have some soldering done to fix a lose component (its a virtual reality headset), rather than having to send this back to USA to get fixed , wondering if anyone knows a technician that would be able to do this? I was thinking some of those computer/phone stores should have someone who could get this done, any recommendations would be appreciated.

I thought so too but when I went there they all shook their head , I think they just assemble computers but no one actually does any component work.

No. Where did you go? To the repair department? They repair radios, televisions, microwaves, refrigerators, etc. They do not repair computers. I think you went to the sales department? The shop is outside in the front.

They tend to be quite 'expensive' if it's just a simple soldering job. If that's the case, I'd recommend a 'hole in the wall' type of shop, which there must be hundreds of in CM. Or, as the OP suggested, one of the mobile repair shops.

It might require a bit of expertise, as will need to carefully open the headset and see what needs to be done, its basically a wobbly USB connection that I think needs to be resoldered. But taking the headset apart (a lot of those tiny screws and clips) so might be worth getting a real pro.

It's on the same side as Computer Plaza, Icon Plaza, etc. When you go into the main building, the retail shop is inside. The repair center office is in a small office in the parking lot close to the door. In the shop itself (which is in another building) there are about 20 technicians, all trained at vocational schools who can read schematics, etc.

They are not expensive at all (about 300 Baht for simple repairs).

There is a small shop called BEFIXED on the second floor (above Rimping and across from the electric company office) at MeeChok Plaza.  He fixed a game steering wheel for me before and he didn't want to charge me anything.  I tipped anyway.

Yes, he is a very nice guy and does good work. He has a weird habit of not wanting to charge anyone (so it seems). I've been in there a couple of times and both times witnessed this. Both times, everyone just left money on the counter; anywhere from 300-500 Baht. I took the lead from the Thai man ahead of me who left 300 and told him to give the money to his son. 300 is what it costs just to get in the door at Amorn which seemed fair for a simple repair. It seems a silly way to run a business.

I went to BEFIXED, and he took on the job, Im just back now and he has indeed fixed the headset, and like other posters experiences here , he did not want to charge me, which is crazy because the amount of work involved in just opening the headset alone would have been so time consuming, I had to just leave money on his desk. I hope others dont take advantage of him, such a great guy and very skilled!
