PHUKET:-- It has been confirmed today that construction of the new Phuket Provincial Prison in Bangjo, Thalang has reached the half-way point and is likely to be complete by the end of next year.

Speaking to The Phuket News today (Oct 19), Phuket Provincial Prison Commissioner Soontorn Dechraksa said, “Right now the construction of the new prison on 108 rai of land at Baan Bangjo in Srisoonthorn is at 51%.

“The new prison will be finished in either November or December 2019. This will make life inside the prison more than the existing Phuket Provincial Prison in Phuket Town,” he said.

So, what's the missing word where I've inserted the ...................... ?

With crime as it is they might start planning the extensions already.crime is part of the Thai way,if you don't get caught it isn't a crime.so many offences are sorted out by money e.g. 500baht and off you go.in my country some of these 500baht fines would get you in jail.fighting, carrying offensive weapons,theft..let alone things like rape where the reports are thrown in the bin.there approximately 4 times as many locked up in Thailand than the uk which just goes to show how much goes on here that's not reported.

Good looking place though.a few swimming pools and restaurants and it could be a nice resort with cheap rates.

So, an overflowing old jail is being replaced by a new larger jail, but apparently crime has not gone up on Phuket.  ????

Looks expensive. Let's hope they did not spent half of the annual budget for inmates prison food on it already...
