NAKHON RATCHASIMA, 25th October 2018 (NNT) – The latest round of public hearings for the planned high-speed rail project has concluded in Nakhon Ratchasima Province.

The State Railway of Thailand and the designer of the high-speed rail route have invited stakeholders in Mueang District and Sikhio District of Nakhon Ratchasima Province to a meeting to discuss the rail route that will pass through these areas.

The SRT has proposed a plan to construct a dual-track rail route through the province’s center, with part of it to go through a tunnel. However most of the nearly 500 participants rejected the idea and suggested an elevated system as in Khon Kaen Province.

Proponents of the system said that such an idea would allow space under the elevated tracks to be used for road transportation.

The SRT agreed to take the new proposal for further discussion and consideration.

The planned dual-track rail project has been designed to pass through Nakhon Ratchasima Province and connect with the Thailand-China high-speed rail project.

What happened to the 3km section...? Did it actually start?

As far as I can find out, the 3km section that started last December has dropped out of the news. That's usually because nothing's happening.

Mind you, the spades looked good, with the PM in the centre, of course:

Perhaps they've binned the project without any official notice, yet continue on in a surface manner as if the extension was still on.

Very Thai.
