YEAH…..been attacked by many dogs as I bike ride…one time coming out of Big C…luckily I had a baguette to fight him off….and other scary encounters…now carry old charging cord to whip them off…and waater bottle…NOT A FUN RIDE…those dogs are everywhere -

I don't think, even in Pattaya, that dentists use plaster to fill a carrie. Or, ..... Do they? This is why I don't live in Pattaya, I guess....among other obvious reasons. Here where I live, in CM, they use plaster for filling holes in walls, and for plastering ceilings. Next time you visit your dentist, why not insist upon the use of CERAMIC material for filling your carries? I highly recommend it. Hope this is helpful. -

Not just dogs, but pets in general. The majority, it would seem [to me] don't regard pets at all as we do in the west; they're much more of a status symbol to Thais rather than a loved companion. "Look at me" show-off syndrome, or just a way to try and make money. Pets, more often than not, are just tools here. -

Two Friends in Drunken Dispute: One Knocked Unconscious After Argument Turns Violent

Pattaya’s Sawang Boriboon Rescue Radio Centre received a report at approximately 04.30 on September 27, of a physical altercation between two foreign nationals in Soi Buakhao, outside an apartment complex located at 348/48, Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. At the location, they found Mr. John Max Neale, a 57-year-old Australian national, unconscious. Rescuers immediately administered first and contacted advanced medical support from a nearby hospital. Mr. Neale was swiftly transferred to Memorial Hospital for further treatment. Ms. Kamonchanok Kanawapee, 22, an eyewitness, recounted that she had been sitting outside the apartment complex when she noticed the injured foreigner drinking with another foreign friend. After some time, the two began arguing. The argument quickly escalated into a physical fight, during which Mr. Neale was struck, causing him to fall and hit his head on the ground. The exact cause of the dispute remains unclear, as Ms. Kamonchanok only witnessed the altercation after the two had already started quarrelling . After the incident, the assailant reportedly returned to his apartment without showing concern for the injured man. Pattaya City Police officers arrived at the scene to collect evidence and documentation from both parties. The injured Mr. Neale will be treated in the hospital before being able to file a formal complaint against his attacker. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident. -- 2024-09-28 -

Thai tax riddle: Elite Visa holders off the hook?
Whispers on Facebook’s Elite/Privilege Group suggest that holders of the controversial five to 20 years visa could dodge the Thai Revenue Department’s (TRD) new tax ruling. Starting January 1 this year, assessable income sent from abroad by Thais or foreigners residing in Thailand for at least 180 days will be subject to personal income tax. A group member claimed, after attending a webinar, that Elite members might be exempt from needing a tax number or filing tax forms, potentially aligning them with the tax-friendly Long Term Residence (LTR) visa holders, who enjoy no personal taxation on overseas income sent to Thailand. This revelation quickly spread like wildfire across Thai media outlets. However, the excitement was short-lived. A group moderator stepped in, clarifying that the attachment shared during the webinar was merely a PowerPoint presentation, not an official document from the TRD. “We’re not going to take comments on its accuracy or validity,” they stated, putting an end to the speculation. To date, neither the TRD nor the official Thai Privilege website has commented on the matter. The TRD’s ruling applies to all tax residents, excluding those with the 10-year LTR visa, allowing overseas income to remain untaxed until December 31 last year. Thailand’s unique tax structure raises questions, especially for retirees relying on pensions already taxed in their home countries. Additionally, many countries maintain double taxation agreements with Thailand, aimed at preventing individuals from being taxed twice on specific earnings. As the TRD gears up to release new tax forms before Christmas for the 2024 calendar year, expectations run high. Some tax accountants predict clarifications in accompanying notes, while others remain sceptical. The primary aim of the TRD appears to be increasing revenue from untapped sources like cryptocurrency and offshore earnings, reported Pattaya Mail.
