Most probably worse

Outlook for the GBPeso is grim until some sort of resolution to the never-ending Brexit. Which is good news pretty if you're shifting Baht back to Sterling.

You can't transfer Thai Baht overseas, BOT forbids it because it's a restricted currency. You can however convert THB into GBP or any other currency in Thailand and then remit the funds overseas....the rate you see at the bank in Thailand is the rate you will get,

Check the bank rates in real time here - https://daytodaydata.net/ - change the currencies at the top of the page and adjust the transfer type to TT, Telegraphic Transfer, the rate given by Thai banks for this sort of thing is as good as it gets anywhere, typically 50 satang on the midpoint so figure 43.50 or so if the midpoint is 43.

Since you are talking about doing a THB-GBP transfer just look at the Thai bank "TT Selling Rate."   Selling means the rate a Thai bank will sell you the GBP for your THB.  A lower selling rate is better as that means you need to fork-out less baht to get each pound to send back.

Convert it to Sterling locally and "walk it" back into the uk carrying suitable documentation

No messing around with minor inconvenience of staying awake for the flights

KISS principle
