Popular Post Haso
Last Friday I realized that I had lost or misplaced my Thai drivers license. So, over the weekend I searched but could not find it. On Monday with the knowledge that you have to produce your drivers license on demand whilst driving I went to the Land Transport Office in Phuket armed with a Police report as to the loss, (20 baht) Copy of front page and copy of Visa of Passport, My Thai I/d card, (which proved useful as it had my name and address and my Passport number on it) or other document that proves current address. The Officer at the front desk reception checked my paperwork.. all good..and then sent me to point 4 to check my drivers license details on the computer... all good..she recorded those details on the top of the police report.. then sent me to point 3 and paid 105 baht.. all good. then sent back to point 4 where I had my photo taken 10 baht. Started to think .. What can go wrong after nearly 2 hours..Waited 10 minutes and given new license. Total time 2hours.. But Monday morning and packed with people. Handsome Man. BUT.. As we know the rules change from day to day, and from location to location. TIT. Does "your I/D card" means from your yellow tebabahn registration book and card provided? Thanks.
Formaleins
Yeah, when things actually work here they tend to work very well. Glad to hear that it is an easy process.
Juan B Tong
Yeah. I am in the process of late renewal of my Thai auto license. 4 hours of videos and computer exam. No practical test. I've noted some irregularities in the computer exam. It's liked a rigged game where the rules and answers change. But, sabai sabai. Nobody to complain to. Nobody to show the irregularities to. Nobody cares. Fortunately, I've lots of time to retake test. 1

In this instance, the OP's lost/missing Thai DL. Most DL offices will use your foreign passport number as your driver number. Others will use your alien ID (if you have a yellow book or pink ID card) if you have such. Some will refuse to use your yellow book and pink ID card number and insist on using your passport number. I think that covers the obvious variables but YMMV.
