I wouldn't jump to conclusions.  This smells like a set up ala Gary Hart.

Avenatti is a very smart lawyer.  Doubtful he would strike or assault a woman.  He's claiming she assaulted him first, and his ex-wife says domestic violence is completely out of character.

Very smart lawyers are the ones to watch out for. Nuf said.

Why is it about left and right.... is it your assertion that the left has a better moral compass, or something?

surely the position should be that all allegations need proper consideration, vs blind acceptance or denial.

with regards Avenatti... ( @Nyezhov) hopefully he will be subject to a full and proper investigation, vs what (investigation) was permitted re kavanaugh.... I expect this to happen... surely we should all expect this to happen.

I expect it will happen as an assualt allegation is concurrent with the arrest for same. To have done a full and proper investigation of Kavanaugh I think a time machine would have been necessary.

TMZ is a mouthpiece for Trump.   Interesting that they have the inside track on this.

Is it?  I thought it was a trashy Hollywood tabloid.

These two things are not mutually exclusive by any means.

DT has turned the White House into a trashy Real Housewives setting.  Andy Cohen and the K family look on in envy.

It ain't politics, it's show biz.

That's entertainment!

True, but I think they've (TMZ) got the Hollywood trash scene covered, and that's going to include Avenatti.

The thing that confounds me is, one side likes to say Trump is despicable, and he is. But those same people would defend a POS who is also despicable because he is the enemy of their enemy.

set up or not it does not matter as we have to assume he is guilty thanks to the #BELIEVEALLWOMEN movement. the democrats hero has been caught in the same net they love to swing around. not really surprising.

Believe women!  All arguments on this thread are subsumed under this one overriding compulsion.  (Well, that statement by now is a bit shop-worn, but at the time of Kavanaugh a new Article had been added to the Constitution, namely "Believe women".)

However, in defense of Avenatti, CNN (at the time of the Stormy revelations) plonked him gleefully in front of their cameras to help continue their 2-yr old whine about how the 2016 election was lost to a Russian spy.....

So, with the imprimatur of CNN established, I guess he must be a Very Important Person.

I would bet that CNN will not be so swift to invite him in to their propaganda machine on this occasion.

ah... I see your point, so I had a quick look at the why of it.... this article has a few insights and explainations.

I only got about half way through the article for which I thank you. It meandered a bit too much but was interesting all the same.

Both of Avenatti’s ex wives have made statements supporting him and clearly stating that during their marriages to him he exhibited no signs of violence or abuse.

I wonder how many of his detractors here on TVF could rely on similar support from their ex wives?

The concept of "abuse" has been very considerably expanded in the last few years.

For example, an English (Tory) MP resigned a few months ago because (as he revealed in the usual Twitter "apology" and ritual abasement that these cases induce) he had briefly put his hand on a woman's knee twenty years before.  There was no attempt to "go further" and the woman never complained!!   But the poor schmuck thought (I assume) that it was best to resign before the woman in question recalled this incident and joined the #metoo squawkers.

This rush to self-immolation by alleged perpetrators (usually male) is a sad comment on the way gender politics has seized control of public discourse, so that now, as we have heard so much recently, "believe women" supersedes "innocent till proven guilty".

[I hasten to add that I in no way condone sexual harassment by anyone anywhere....it being the last resort of sexual losers.]

OK, give me a link to something to read.

This is the second time in about a week that another poster feels the need to beg for links. For heavens sake, is Google all that difficult to use? The names are there... It is not my job to provide for you a reading list which is but a few short clicks away in YOUR OWN capable hands.

I am expert Googler. I have found nothing to suggest that this Avenatti guy wasn't arrested, that some else was, that some woman wasn't assaulted by "someone", that someone framed Avenatti. Your posts suggest none of that is so, so, all I'm asking is, why do you think that?

So Avenatti is claiming that that Trump idolising kid hit a woman and had her say it was Avenatti who did it?

Looks like it.  Funny how CNN has it buried today.

The creepy porn lawyer who claimed he would bring down the POTUS!

Basta = enough !

Is he creepy to you because he represents a porn actress or  is he creepy because he  intends to divulge whatever happened between Miss Daniels and the current POTUS?

Actually, I can't stand those people that think you must supply a link for them to consider anything you say might be true. I'm willing to take your word for it. What's the scoop?
