What is relevant is that Brexit impact on Sterling has significant effect on expats living in Thailand or anywhere else for that matter. Not only that, the Sterling impact has a faster more immediate effect on expats and therefore their input to the discussion is skin in the game. In short your contribution has little value other than as a 'spoiler'. Link to comment

Actually many of those who spend their retired times in Thailand and even Pattaya have been relatively successful enough in life to arrange their finances to afford living abroad so do not have to take abuse from those who have not. Some are more exposed to Sterling than others. 3 Link to comment

No one had heard of Hard and Soft Brexits when they voted....they just voted to leave. We should pay nothing and leave on March 19th. Britain is too valuable a market for the EU to lose....if they lost the sales to us they would have a major recession, and so sense will prevail at some point. But the EU negotiated in bad faith. a major recession in the EU you say, well before brexit the UK was top of the GDP table its now 6th from 7 with italy bottom and thats before brexit and all the jobs we will lose to other EU nations, they dont actually sell us much other than VWs and we sell them even less,we will cement 7th spot for sure Link to comment

cyberfarang
It appears to me that even if an MP sneezes sterling drops. I can foresee the way this is headed that soon the £ will be equal to the Euro. Someone somewhere has their finger firmly on the lid to stop the £ rising. Crap bank interest rates and crap bank exchange rates, it`s become a situation where Brits living abroad may just as well keep their money under a mattress, the banks are offering nothing. Now that some embassies have stopped issuing monthly confirmation letters, who in their right minds would want to bring over 800000 baht at these rates? Wake Up
Just stop the brexit madness. Anger and Arrogance voted brexit into play and reality needs to step in and stop the brexit madness. I am not British but think this has been one big ignorant exercise that needs to stop and make up with EU and move forward positively. 1 1 Link to comment
