Hi

Interesting question. I'm Canadian. My wife is Thai. She has had 2 US visas now. We live in Bermuda. Her and I both have work permits here (Both 3 years). My wife has a Canadian PR application in process. She has a 3 year Canadian Visa. She worked previously as a nurse and has 2 houses in her name and hasn't had any difficulties whatsoever in obtaining visas for anywhere.

We are interested in bringing her son here for vacation this up and coming school break. The easiest flight is BKK/JFK so he needs a US Visa.

He's been out of thailand on a new passport to hong kong a few months ago to visit disneyland with my wifes sister and his cousin. He has won numerous math awards and has been enrolled since pre-school in private school.

Can I possibly bounce a couple of ideas off other people here? Its nearly impossible to get ahold of anyone at a US Embassy to find out what todo -

1) My wifes visa expires May 31. She is going to be back in Thailand next month. With her being a non-resident Thai, will the US-embassy there be able to renew her US visa there??? Or because she is a non-resident, will they tell her she needs to apply in Bermuda?

2) If she is allowed to apply, will they have any problems with her applying for a visa for her son? Her son is currently living with her sister while we wait for CIC paperwork to be completed so we can all reside together in Canada.

3) She is there working in Thailand for the next 1.5 months. I'm looking at coming over mid Feb. I havn't started any adoption procedings (waiting for Canada etc). As a Canadian citizen, can I take him down to the US Embassy for the interview? I don't have any paperwork other than Canadian documents showing I intend to adopt him?

Any suggestions or thoughts please pass on!

Thanks,

Sean

Consulate in Bangkok should not refuse to accept application, though I do wonder why you don't apply in Bermuda as it would be a slam dunk there. Should not be any problem with son either as it is easy to show there is no intent to stay.

Only thing is her son is in Bkk, not here?

You say your wife will be in Thailand, why doesn't she apply while she is there? It does not appear to have anything to do with you. With him in school (I assume) in Thailand, you all living in Bermuda, there is no intent to stay in US.

Waiting time for interview is about 10 days from application, so if she in Thailand for 1.5 months plenty of time. You do not need tickets or anything to apply.

Transit people need a visa, I don't think so. He will never clear U.S. immgration and is only in

transit.

In the US you have to clear immigration to get to boarding gates. There is no exit immigration. Transist visas are required.
