BANGKOK, 28th November 2018 (NNT) - A deputy prime minister in charge of legal affairs has assured the public that the Prime Minister does not need to belong to any political party to enter politics.

On Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam, backed a statement by Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, which discussed his intention not to become a member of any political party, saying any party can nominate him as one of their three prime ministerial candidates even though he is not a member of their party.

Mr. Wissanu said that Gen. Prayut has not consulted with him what to do in the event that the PM runs for office.

The DPM said that he has explained to the Cabinet that everything will proceed naturally after the election law comes into effect on December 11.

He added that, after this law is in force, a royal decree to set the election date will be passed and the Election Commission will make a public announcement about the polling date, the application period and venue.

Mr. Wissanu went on to say that any political party contesting the upcoming election must propose up to three candidates as the next prime minister before the end of the election candidate application period.

The DPM noted that each candidate can only be nominated by one party.

Well he wasn't a member of a political party when he seized power (unless the armed forces is now political party) so it's worked for him up to now ...

If Prayut joins a party even he knows people will actively not vote for that party purely based on the fact he's in it.

He'll keep quiet and at the last possible minute join some pro-junta party that wins. He knows people don't want him but he doesn't care. He wants to be PM, and he knows he can never win the popular vote.

It tells you all you need to know about how he feels about 'the people'.

Spot on....of course when your making the rules you also have some other options. But its best if you don't have to show them, or use them since they will amount to blatantly stealing the election.

So: a fix will be put in to ensure that a party will somehow, in some obscure coalition, and no doubt with the support of the appointed senate, end up forming a government, no doubt with a "popular vote" dramatically less than any sort of majority. Once they begin to select their "Prime Minister" guess who will emerge from the shadows?

Well, golly, I mean, whoever would have imagined ...

He doesn’t have to join as he has 3 or so groups who are Pro already. He simply wants to be appointed by them all. It looks so much more nicer if the majority winner nominates him not affiliated, or as he will say. Sham!
