Bus Catches Fire in Ang Thong, No Injuries Reported
Picture from responders At approximately 18:30 on November 29, a bus which was not carrying any passengers and traveling from Chiang Mai to Chonburi caught fire on the Asia Highway near kilometre marker 50, under the Ang Thong overpass in Ban It Subdistrict, Mueang District, Ang Tong. The driver, Mr. Narongsri Utchan, 39, explained that he was driving the bus to Chonburi to pick up military cadet students for a sea training session in Chonburi and at the military prep school in Nakhon Nayok. As the bus approached kilometre 50, he noticed a burning smell and smoke filling up the inside the vehicle. He immediately pulled over to investigate and found smoke and flames coming from the rear air conditioning ducts. The fire quickly spread to the seats below, as burning material dripped down. Quick-thinking passing drivers stopped and helped to contain the blaze using fire extinguishers. Firefighters from the Ban It Subdistrict Administrative Organisation, along with rescue teams from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation and Ang Thong Rescue Association, arrived promptly. They successfully fully extinguished the fire before it could spread further or cause serious damage. The rear interior of the bus was damaged by heat and flames, with the several windows shattering. The whole inside was covered in a layer of soot and smoke residue. The engine and fuel system were not damaged or effected by the fire. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation by authorities. -- 2024-11-29 -

Thai Government Vows Proactive Efforts to Safeguard Buddhism

He paused, then gave a grin and said next question please. My wife has 2 brothers who are monks, both are only there because no one in the family wants them as they were both addicted to Lao Kaow. They both had good jobs in construction when they were younger and now they have nothing. I have nothing against Thai the monks, getting ordained it's their choice. I've always wondered where all the financial donations to every wat go to. I seem to think in many cases the fat cats in the temples management are milking the system. In some case the money some people leave to temples when they die is in the millions, -
