I am married to a Thai and have a son and totally confused at the Non 'O' Immigrant visa laws. Went to Phuket Immigration 2 days ago and was basically refused and laughed at by the immigration officer at my pleas to apply for a visa ... whilst he played with his ears !!!, maybe someone knows who I am speaking about.

I work in the oil industry so I am only in Phuket for 27 days every other month, do I need to go to UK Embassy to get my contract from my company certified ?

Any help welcome.

A visa is obtained at a Thai Embassy outside of Thailand.

Phuket Immigration may change your status if you meet the requirements.

if you are married to a Thai, you need to have a letter from your Embassy certifying that you have income of 40.000 baht or more per month

Others will complete this info

Good luck

Ideally, what you need to do is get yourself a multiple entry Non Imm O visa from the Thai embassy or consulate when you are in UK. Your reason is based on having a Thai wife and it should only be necessary to show your marriage certificate, your sons birth certificate copy will also help. This visa is valid for a year for you to travel to Thailand as many times as you wish and each time you enter you will get upto 90 days to stay in country.

You can request the Multi entry Non Imm O at any Thai embassy but reports are that neighbouring embassies are not issuing Multi entry only single entry visas.

Anyway for the amount of time you are spending in Thailand you can enter on a Visa exempt stamp which will give you upto 30 days in the country. As long as you dont spend more than 90 days in Thailand in any 180 on this type of entry you can do this without the need to get a visa or cost. Just turn up and you will get your 30 days.
